Why does my ipod list the same artist twice?

I have a lot of artists listed twice on my ipod and they are spelled the same and everything. I want all the artist's songs under one name. Do you know how to fix this? For instance I have the Foo Fighters. It has the artist "Foo Fighters" listed twice and different songs on each one. How do you fix this? Thanks
