Sonnet versus Ballad?

So I'll be sending roses to a special someone this Valentine and I'm thinking of writing a poem on the bouquet card. I'm not sure whether the sonnet or the ballad is the better form in expressing one's love. Sonnet seems nice, but rather short. The ballad does allow you to express more but if you're not careful you might get repetitive. What do you guys think?
